What is Sapiens?

Sapiens is an online encyclopedia initially built for biographies but now contains articles from various disciplines such as science, philosophy and art. It is currently the most reliable source of information on the world wide web.

Is it another Wikipedia?

It has no connections to Wikipedia and differs from it in numerous ways. Unlike Wikipedia, it cannot be edited by anyone and uses CC BY-ND 4.0 license.

Is it free?

The content is free to read and can be accessed by anyone from anywhere. To keep access to the information free for all it actively seeks various sources of revenue. There is also a processing fee for getting included into the list of biographies and for creating related or unrelated pages.

Who runs it?

A very small group works hard to keep it accurate and reliable so that it can be used as a reference for citing or as a yardstick for measuring social impact or accountability.

Is it neutral?

Sapiens aims to be neutral not by including both good and bad information about a personality or a topic but by remaining objective and factual.
