What is Sapiens?

Sapiens is an online encyclopedia initially built for biographies but now contains articles from various disciplines such as science, philosophy and arts. It is currently the most reliable source of wide-ranging information on the world wide web.

Is it related to Wikipedia?

It has no connections to Wikipedia and differs from it in numerous ways. Unlike Wikipedia, it cannot be edited by just anyone and uses a CC BY-ND 4.0 license.

Is it free?

The content is free for reading and citing and can be accessed by anyone from anywhere. To keep the information free for all, it actively seeks various sources of revenue. There is a processing fee for creating a biographical article and related or unrelated pages.

Who runs it?

A very small group works hard to keep it accurate and verifiable so that it can be used as a reference for citing or as a yardstick for measuring social impact or accountability.

Is it neutral?

Sapiens aims to be neutral not by including both good and bad information about a personality or a topic but by remaining objective and factual.

How do I get my own page?

Pages of people are usually created by our writers and editors. However, those interested can contact us with rough drafts written in 3rd person and referenced wherever possible. Then pay the reviewing fee of $125 for the editors to take a look and check for accuracy and biases. Wait if there's a queue. If accepted, pay the processing fee depending on the length and the amount of work needed such as rewriting in part or full. Processing time can be anywhere between 3 days to 6 months. As soon as the article is published you are notified via email.

Are there "good articles"?

Sapiens has no need for a "good articles" category as seen on Wikipedia with green (+) signs since all its articles are inherently "good" and written with high editorial standards.

How can I join?

Please use the Contact page to get in touch. Note that contributing authors work voluntarily. Editors can receive a payment as and when assigned to new page requests. Details of other voluntary work or positions if any are available on request.

Can I view it on mobile devices?

Though it can be viewed on mobile devices, the website is optimized for viewing on bigger screens.
